Founded in 1993 at the time of the First Ornithological Congress in Costa Rica, THE ORNITHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION OF COSTA RICA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the study, research and conservation of bird life and its habitat, in order to orient public and private policies. Among the priorities of the OACR is to educate the general public about the more than 850 species of birds found in Costa Rica. In 1999, our Association was declared to be in the public interest by the government of Costa Rica.

Among the members of the ORNITHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION OF COSTA RICA are ornithologists and biologists, professionals in many disciplines, students, photographers, tour guides, environmentalists and birdwatchers in general, all united by their passion for ornithology. |
